Xiangya Hospital opens the first outpatient chemoradiotherapy center in Hunan Province

On April 2, Xiangya Hospital of Central South University officially opened the first outpatient chemoradiotherapy center in Hunan Province. After the doctor’s evaluation, personal application, and approval from the Medical Insurance Bureau, cancer patients who are not first-time chemoradiotherapy do not need to be hospitalized, and can complete the treatment in the outpatient clinic, and complete the medical insurance settlement according to the hospital reimbursement policy.

According to statistics, the oncology department of Xiangya Hospital will have 13,440 discharges in 2021 (including 6,762 in the radiotherapy department and 6,678 in the chemotherapy department), and more than 7,000 in the breast cancer department. Many patients who are treated in related departments have a large patient base and tight ward beds.

From March 1 this year, the “Interim Measures for the Administration of Medical Insurance Payments for Outpatient Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy for Malignant Tumors in Hunan Province” was officially implemented. Xiangya Hospital attaches great importance to improving the patient’s medical experience. It has set up a 200-square-meter outpatient radiotherapy and chemotherapy center on the negative first floor of the outpatient clinic. It is divided into functional areas such as treatment area, configuration room, nurse station, and emergency room. It is equipped with a professional medical and nursing team to reach the hospital. The homogeneous management of nursing units meets the basic requirements of the Hunan Provincial Health Commission and the Hunan Provincial Medical Security Bureau for outpatient radiotherapy and chemotherapy sites; the institutional process is sorted out to ensure the medical quality and medical safety of outpatient radiotherapy and chemotherapy patients. With the communication from the Medical Insurance Office of Xiangya Hospital and the strong support of the Hunan Provincial Medical Insurance Bureau, Xiangya Hospital has so far had 5 patients passed the review, and successfully achieved the first outpatient chemotherapy patient medical insurance in Hunan Province on April 1. Settlement landed.

Huang Gengwen, Director of the Medical Department of Xiangya Hospital, introduced that the malignant tumor patients who participated in the medical insurance for urban workers or urban and rural residents in Hunan Province were evaluated by doctors. For chemotherapy and other treatments, after voluntarily filling out the “Application Form for Outpatient Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy for Malignant Cancer Patients in Hunan Province”, and submitting the relevant information to the hospital medical department and the Hunan Provincial Medical Insurance Bureau for review, the radiotherapy and chemotherapy can be carried out in the outpatient clinic according to the doctor’s order. An audit is valid for one year, and the settlement method of medical expenses incurred during this period is equivalent to that of medical insurance inpatients.

Wu Guoyong, Deputy Director of Hunan Provincial Medical Security Bureau, etc. attended the ceremony.
