During the closure of the campus, 16 “quasi-doctors” formed an on-campus medical team, “receiving orders” for 1,700 consultation records and answering common diseases

“Hello doctor, my roommate was scalded by the hot water, and the broken glass of the thermos liner was stuck in his foot. Scum, the pain is unbearable now, what should I do?”

At 2 am, Li Jiahui, a doctor on night shift in the hospital of East China Normal University Putuo Campus, received a call for help from a student. Li Jiahui immediately inquired about the injury and the cause in detail, and informed the simple first aid treatment method. Li Jiahui is a member of the new “medical team” of the school. Under this round of epidemic, how can teachers and students who are locked in the school see a doctor?

A medical team composed of 16 medical students jointly trained by medical schools assembled quickly to support various medical security services during the school’s closed management period. Since March 19, the medical team has received more than 1,700 consultation information through online platforms such as [email protected].

The members of the campus medical team are from Shanghai Changzheng Hospital, Fengxian Central Hospital, and Wuhu Hospital Affiliated to East China Normal University. , affiliated Changning Mental Health Center and other institutions, young medical students with doctor’s professional qualifications. Most of them voluntarily stayed in the school laboratory due to the needs of scientific research work. When they heard that the school needed medical volunteers, they took the initiative to apply for battle and quickly arrived at the post.

The undergraduate student from the School of Software Engineering who came to the “emergency” that night came across the base of the thermos in the dormitory and suddenly fell off and burst, causing burns and stabs on both feet. After hanging up the phone, Li Jiahui was worried that the students would delay their illness, so she rushed to the student dormitory and contacted the student counselor to issue an emergency medical transfer order.

Li Jiahui took Xiao Zhang to the school hospital in a private car, where he was first treated with cold compresses and disinfection. While comforting the panicked students, Li Jiahui checked the nucleic acid test results presented by the students. After confirming that there was no problem, Li Jiahui quickly contacted the school hospital for a special car and transferred to a designated location outside the school for medical treatment.

When visiting the doctor, the doctor said that because the school hospital has carried out correct and effective cold compress and disinfection treatment on the scalded and punctured wounds in the best time, the condition has been controlled, and no more scalded wound treatment is required. Simply bandage the wound and apply scald ointment.

In order to build a solid “medical front line” of campus epidemic prevention and control, this medical team took the initiative to extend the outpatient consultation time , provides 24-hour telephone medical consultation and guidance services, and has opened a medical consultation email for consultation, and established a medical consultation WeChat group.

In addition, the members of the medical team also summarized ten types of common health problems during the epidemic, and compiled a thoughtful and professional “treatment plan for common diseases during epidemic prevention and control”.

Faced with the current round of the epidemic, East China Normal University mobilized medical strength and resources in a timely manner, coordinated medical education and research, and quickly established a “four-level” “Online and offline multi-channel medical security service system, providing teachers and students with medical diagnosis and treatment, consultation and dispensing services, forming a transfer mechanism for students to seek medical treatment, to solve the problem of “seeking a doctor and asking for medicine” for teachers and students during the epidemic prevention and control period Problems are free from worries and provide peace of mind.
