The whole process of myopia surgery is recorded! If you want to have surgery, you will decide after reading it.

No one is nearsighted enough to walk out of a barbershop smiling.

As soon as you put on your glasses…

If you accidentally forget to bring your glasses to go out, it is simply impossible to recognize six relatives at a distance of five meters, male and female at a distance of ten meters, and no distinction between humans and animals at a distance of 30 meters.

It is said that the eyes are the windows to the soul, but the eyes of short-sighted people are covered with “frosted glass”.

For many people, it is inconvenient to wear glasses, and it may seal their appearance. Wearing contact lenses is often uncomfortable, and there are hidden dangers to eye health, so they have myopia. The idea of surgery, but I haven’t made up my mind for a long time. The tangled points include but are not limited to-

How is myopia surgery done? Does it hurt? Which is the best for me? Is there a risk? Will it bounce back?

Don’t worry, we specially went to the hospital to film the whole process of volunteers performing laser myopia surgery, and bring you a “painless experience”.

First of all, no matter what kind of surgery it is, a detailed eye examination should be carried out before surgery. In addition to basic refraction, corneal topography, and corneal thickness detection, corneal morphology should also be carried out according to individual conditions. Analysis, dry eye examination, endothelial cell examination, eye axis measurement and many other tests, as many as dozens of preoperative examinations.

The whole process of laser myopia surgery record

In simple terms, LASIK is the use of a laser to thin the cornea. The higher the degree, the thicker the cornea that needs to be cut, which is why this type of surgery requires a certain thickness of the cornea.

At present, the mainstream of laser surgery is half femtosecond, full femtosecond, etc.

Take full femtosecond surgery as an example. The first step is to put on an isolation gown, isolation cap and shoe covers and lie on the operating bed.

The nurse will then sterilize your eyes and put anesthesia eye drops into your eyes. After anesthesia, there will be little pain during the operation. Next, the doctor will use a small instrument to open your eyelids.

Everything is ready. At this time, you have to stay relaxed, look upwards in the direction of the bright light, and then the instrument will slowly descend close to the eyeball.

When a green light spot appears, your doctor will tell you to keep your eye on the light spot and keep your eye in position, and the device will draw on the eye.

For 30 seconds, the laser scans the inside of the cornea across the surface of the cornea, cutting a small piece of “lens-like corneal tissue” and making a small opening on the surface.

After completing these tasks, the instrument will release your eyeballs and slowly move away from you. Next, the doctor will use a tool to extract the cut corneal tissue.

At this point, the full femtosecond surgery is completed, and the overall time is about 10 minutes.

Another commonly used laser procedure is called “half-femtosecond”. Listening to the name, it seems to be a low-profile version of the full femtosecond, but it is not the case. The main difference between the two is the difference in the surgical method.

In addition to femtosecond lasers, half-femtoseconds also use excimer lasers.

The two types of lasers have their own advantages. The edge of the tissue cut by the femtosecond laser is flat and smooth, and it can also cut directly inside the surface through the surface layer. Customized cutting method to ensure smooth cornea after surgery.

The pre-surgery preparations are similar, but the process is different. First, the femtosecond laser creates a lid (corneal flap) on the cornea, which the doctor then manually lifts.

You will then be moved to another instrument, where an excimer laser is used to ablate a corresponding degree of corneal tissue. You will sometimes smell a burnt-like smell during the procedure, which is due to the gasification of the cornea by the laser.

Finally, the doctor will cover the corneal flap that was lifted and let it heal on its own.

The advantage of half femtosecond compared with full femtosecond is that the corneal tissue it cuts is thinner, but because its incision is larger than that of full femtosecond, and more epithelial nerves are damaged, it is relatively Dry eye is more likely to occur after full femtosecond surgery.

Currently, the range of refractive power that can be corrected by LASIK is within 1200 degrees for myopia, 600 degrees for hyperopia, and 600 degrees for astigmatism.

But because the cornea needs to be cut off,So full femtosecond and half femtosecond have requirements for corneal thickness, if your If the cornea is not thick enough, or the degree of myopia is too deep, more than 1000 degrees, the doctor will recommend another surgery-

ICL implantation

ICL is when a doctor puts a special “contact lens” into your eye. If laser surgery is subtracting the cornea, the ICL is the equivalent of “adding” in the eye.

The surgery requires only a small incision at the edge of the cornea, so there is little damage to the cornea, and the lens can be removed if problems arise after surgery.

According to my classmates who have done ICL, when the lens is implanted in the eyeball, you will feel that the whole world is opened up. But be warned that ICLs are more expensive and not fully reversible as some advertised.

Each implantation and removal comes with a risk of surgical complications and a certain loss of corneal endothelial cells. In addition, it is an intraocular surgery, which means that when complications arise, they tend to be more serious.

In general, if the eye conditions are sufficient for laser surgery, especially for low and medium degrees, there is no need to choose ICL for the so-called “reversible” at this stage; if the eye conditions are more suitable ICL, there is no need to worry, the safety of this surgery has also been fully verified.

No matter what kind of surgery it is, you must choose a reliable medical institution.

Recovery after surgery can also affect the outcome of surgery

After the operation, the anesthesia will last for a while, but after the anesthetic wears off, you will obviously feel uncomfortable, similar to the feeling of a foreign body in the eye. But don’t worry, this situation usually lasts for 2 to 3 hours, and it will be more comfortable to close your eyes and rest.

By the time most people wake up the next day, they will feel refreshed, opening up a new world of clarity.

But don’t rush to have fun! If the postoperative care is not in place, and some bad eye habits are not changed, the results of the surgery will be affected. For example, some people catch their eyes and use them violently after surgery, and then the degree rises again, thinking that the surgery has not completely cured myopia and will rebound.

In fact, it is not accurate to say that myopia surgery does not “cure” myopia, it can only correct the symptoms of myopia. For example, if myopia is 500 degrees, then I will cut 500 degrees for you. If you go up 100 degrees later, the surgery in the past won’t help.

So, cherish the clear vision after surgery, listen to the doctor, and don’t do it. In addition, in order to reduce postoperative dry eye symptoms, it is also necessary to control the time spent looking at electronic products in the short term, pay attention to eye hygiene on weekdays, blink more to avoid excessive evaporation of tears, and maintain a suitable temperature and humidity in the daily environment.

Finally, we summarize the advantages, disadvantages and price comparisons of several common myopia surgeries for you:
