A fishbone that has nowhere to go

A few years later, Ms. Liu is very busy every day, sweeping all day and taking a few bites of food. Unfortunately, 3 days ago, I ate fish and swallowed too fast, and it was obvious that I had swallowed a fishbone stuck in my throat. Ms. Liu calmly dealt with it, drinking vinegar and swallowing rice. At that time, she felt that the stinging pain in her throat had improved.

The next day, the pain in the throat still existed. Ms. Liu felt uneasy. She checked a lot of information on the Internet. She felt that apart from the pain, she did not have the symptoms such as fever and chest tightness mentioned on the Internet, and she was still eating and drinking. normal. It may be the pain of the fishbone scratched wound, so I didn’t care.

Unexpectedly, 2 days later, the pain became more and more severe, and I felt pain when I turned my head, so I rushed to Wuhan Central Hospital for examination. A CT scan revealed a foreign body in the neck. The ENT department used laryngoscopy, and there was no trace of fishbone in the esophagus, and there was no wound.

The CT was checked again, and it was determined that the fishbone had penetrated the esophagus, lying between the muscles of the neck, and there was no obvious local swelling. The thoracic surgery department came on stage and chose the right neck incision. With the assistance of X-rays and endoscopy during the operation, it took nearly 2 hours to find the fishbone that had nowhere to place. It is no longer in the position shown by the preoperative CT, and is cleverly hidden between the tissues in front of the cervical spine, completely separated from the esophagus.

Chinese interpersonal communication, eating and drinking is the norm. Especially in Hubei, no feast is complete without fish. After three rounds of drinking, the chatter box is released, and eating is not so careful, and fishbone jams frequently occur. Fortunately for Ms. Liu, although the fishbone directly pierced the esophagus due to repeated swallowing, there was no infection or damage to the blood vessels and esophagus, and she recovered and was discharged from the hospital soon. There are still many people who think that almost everyone has been caught by a fishbone, and most of them can be solved by swallowing a steamed bun. After all, there are very few problems. But once there is a big problem, it is life-threatening. Every year during the Chinese New Year, such patients go to the hospital for medical treatment, and the esophagus perforation, large blood vessel rupture and bleeding, mediastinal infection, etc. lead to loss of life due to accidental swallowing of fishbone and failure to seek medical treatment in time. Therefore, once the fishbone is stuck in the throat, it is best to seek a professional doctor for treatment as soon as possible, and do not forcefully swallow it, which may cause personal injury and wallet damage.
