On March 17, 2022, Shanghai held a press conference on epidemic prevention and control. At the meeting, Wu Jinglei, director of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, announced that from 0 to 24:00 on March 16, 8 new local confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia were added. 150 cases (including 1 case of asymptomatic infection converted to confirmed case) and 150 asymptomatic infections, of which 1 confirmed case and 69 asymptomatic infections were found in isolation and control, and 1 asymptomatic infection was returned from other provinces. It was found in the Shanghai personnel co-investigation, and the rest were found in the investigation of relevant risk groups. There were 15 new confirmed cases of imported new coronary pneumonia and 6 asymptomatic infections, all of which were found in closed-loop control.
Case 1, male, 49 years old, lives in the construction site dormitory of Jianchuan Road Comprehensive Service Center, Jiangchuan Road Street, Minhang District, and is a local asymptomatic infection reported previously. After consultation with experts at the municipal level, the epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests and imaging examination results were combined, and a confirmed case was diagnosed. Case 2, female, 32 years old, lives in Lane 612, Shunchang Road, Huangpu District.
Case 3, female, 35 years old, lives in Tianlinba Village, Xuhui District, all of whom are close contacts of local asymptomatic infections reported by the city, that is, they are quarantined and controlled. The control center review result was positive. After consultation with experts at the municipal level, the epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests and imaging examination results were combined, and a confirmed case was diagnosed.
Case 4, male, 38 years old, lives in the dormitory opposite No. 267, Chongjiao Road, Jiading District.
Case 5, female, 78 years old, lives in Taoyuan New Village, Jiading District.
Case 6, male, 52 years old, lives in Taoyuan New Village, Jiading District.

Case 8, female, 14 years old, lives in Lane 11, Guilin West Street, Xuhui District.
If the nucleic acid test results of the new coronavirus are found to be abnormal during the screening of risk groups, they will be quarantined and controlled. The result of the review by the Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention was positive. After consultation with experts at the municipal level, the epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests and imaging examination results were combined, and a confirmed case was diagnosed.
At present, 13 close contacts of the above cases in the city have been traced, and centralized isolation and observation have been implemented. Terminal disinfection has been carried out on the places where the cases have been active.
150 asymptomatic infected persons were found to have abnormal nucleic acid test results during centralized isolation control or screening of risk groups. Today, the city CDC reviewed the nucleic acid test positive for the new coronavirus. After consultation with the municipal expert group, 150 people were diagnosed as asymptomatic infection of new coronary pneumonia by comprehensive epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory test and imaging test results.
Wu Jinglei revealed that, according to the relevant requirements of the State Council’s joint prevention and control mechanism, after the study and decision of the Office of the Municipal Leading Group for the Prevention and Control of the New Coronary Pneumonia Epidemic, from 0:00 on March 18, 2022, Lane 3705, Bao’an Highway, Malu Town, Jiading District will be closed. No. 1 was adjusted from a medium-risk area to a low-risk area, and the risk level of other areas in Shanghai remained unchanged.
