Among them, 28 members of the 22nd batch of Chinese medical teams in Zambia treated 7,434 emergency patients and completed 2,691 surgeries. At the same time, Chinese doctors also taught and trained 5,838 Zambian medical workers (times).

The above statistics come from the four major hospitals where the Chinese medical team is stationed, namely Levi Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital, University Teaching Hospital, Livingston Central Hospital and Ndola Teaching Hospital .

Laxon Kasungka, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Health in charge of business work, presented the “Aid and Zambia Outstanding Contribution Award” to all 28 members of the medical team on March 9, in recognition of their work in medical care. Contributions made in service.

Kasungka expressed appreciation for the contributions made by Chinese doctors and local medical experts in providing high-quality medical services. Since 1978, China has been sending medical teams to Zambia. So far, more than one million local people have been treated by Chinese-aided doctors. China’s dispatch of medical teams to Zambia is seen as a major sign of Zambia-China friendship.

The 22nd batch of medical teams donated a variety of medical supplies to Livingston Central Hospital to support medical work in Zambia. Zhao Haiyuan led a long-distance drive to Livingston with Chinese doctors and donated a batch of anti-epidemic materials to Livingston Central Hospital, where four Chinese doctors are stationed. Zhao Haiyuan said that the medical team made a special trip to donate epidemic prevention materials and medical equipment as a way to congratulate the newly elected president.

Zhao Haiyuan said: “Thank you to Livingston Hospital for the support and assistance to the four medical team members who have worked here for more than half a year. It is very touching that the hospital has specially installed the dormitory for the medical team members. He asked the four Chinese doctors to actively cooperate with local doctors to better provide high-quality medical services to patients.

John Kachinba, President of Livingston Central Hospital, welcomed and thanked the arrival of the Chinese medical team. Dean Kachinba said: “We have been working with Chinese doctors for more than 40 years. I am always very happy to see the Chinese medical team. We are all honored that the medical team leader decided to come to our province.”

Mr. Kachinba encouraged the medical colleagues of Zambia and China to continue to work together, especially during the new crown epidemic, and to support each other, so as to overcome the epidemic. Mr. Kachinba said that the last batch of doctors from the Chinese medical team has established a high reputation here, and the four Chinese doctors who have aided Zambia in this batch have further strengthened the bilateral cooperation between Zambia and China, which impressed him deeply.
