It is understood that nearly half a year , 66-year-old Ms. Feng often has abdominal discomfort. On February 16, Ms. Feng was transferred to the Department of Gastroenterology of the 924th Hospital of the People’s Liberation Army by the local hospital in Quanzhou County.
After preliminary detailed diagnosis and treatment by the doctor, a parasite was found in Ms. Feng’s liver. This parasite is shaped like a turbot and is about 3.5cm long. It still swims after being taken out, and it is also destructive.
The doctor consulted and collected relevant information from domestic counterparts and confirmed that the parasite was Fasciola hepatica, which was several times larger than the liver fluke.

Ms. Feng’s liver has been eaten by about one third of Fasciola hepatica, and the bile ducts inside and outside the liver have been damaged. In the few reports on the parasite, the etiology is related to the patient eating raw Houttuynia cordata. “As far as we know, this patient has also eaten cold Houttuynia cordata and often drinks raw water in summer.”
Since February 18, the hospital has performed minimally invasive surgery on Ms. Feng, and the patient is recovering middle.
