From March 1 to 14:00 on March 15, Shanghai reported a total of 94 local confirmed cases and 861 asymptomatic infections, totaling 955 cases. Gu Honghui, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal Government, said at a press conference on the epidemic held today that the local epidemic in Shanghai has several characteristics:

First, nearly 90% of the reported infected persons are asymptomatic infections. It is mainly a variant of Omicron. The characteristics of this virus are that it spreads quickly, spreads easily, is more concealed, and is more difficult to detect.

Second, the epidemic involves shopping malls, supermarkets, wholesale markets, public baths, community activity centers, schools, hospitals, these crowded places, as well as supermarket employees, shuttle drivers, and isolation point staff. , retired personnel, these key groups also include ordinary community groups, and the transmission chain is complicated.

Third, the number of imported cases has increased significantly, and the number of domestic regional investigation tasks has continued to increase, coupled with the local epidemic, which has brought enormous pressure to Shanghai’s medical treatment resources.

Recently, Shanghai has focused on four aspects of work:

First, make every effort to do a good job in the 24-hour operation of the epidemic prevention and control command system at the city and district levels, and implement the investigation as soon as possible. Tracking the origin of the flow, transport and isolation, sealing and control, nucleic acid testing, and medical treatment. There are many communities and units under closure and control in Shanghai this time. We will do our best to ensure the service of personnel in the control area, especially strengthen the elderly. , children, pregnant women, the care and care of seriously ill patients.

The second is to prevent the spread of the epidemic. Shanghai has strengthened the management of people leaving Shanghai and returning to Shanghai, making it clear that citizens should not leave Shanghai unless it is necessary, checking 48-hour negative nucleic acid test certificates at transportation stations, and suspending the operation of major passenger stations in the city. All primary and secondary schools in the city have been adjusted to online teaching, kindergartens and nurseries have stopped entering kindergartens, colleges and universities have implemented relatively closed management, and training institutions and nurseries have suspended offline services. The prevention and control measures of various crowded places such as hospitals, schools, nursing homes, transportation stations, shopping malls and supermarkets have been further tightened, and large-scale exhibitions, cultural performances and other gathering activities have been temporarily suspended.

The third is to expand social nucleic acid screening. Based on the epidemiological situation and the “heat map”, a large-scale active screening is carried out in key areas with many cases, frequent activities, complex transmission chains, and high risk of spread. At the same time, 8 key industries and key population groups including medical and health care, transportation, education, and commerce have been fully screened. Recently, we have found more infected people, which is the active detection of expanded screening.

The fourth is to optimize and improve prevention and control measures. In the past two years, Shanghai has adhered to active prevention and control, scientific prevention and control, precise prevention and control, and comprehensive prevention and control, and dynamically adjusted prevention and control strategies according to the situation and circumstances. Recently, according to the characteristics of the Omicron variant, the management and control measures for epidemic-related places and personnel have been adjusted and improved. While doing a good job in emergency response to the epidemic, it has tried its best to reduce the impact on citizens’ lives and urban operations. Shanghai continues to strictly implement the management requirements for ports, isolation points, medical institutions, and imported cold chains, sort out key issues and conduct a list-based investigation, and set up 14 municipal-level working groups to carry out special supervision across the city to timely check and fill vacancies and plug loopholes.
