How many degrees of drinks may cause cancer?

The International Agency for Research on Cancer has published the results of a carcinogenicity assessment of coffee, yerba mate tea and hot beverages, and it has been published in “The Willow Leaf” affiliated with the top international academic journal “The Lancet”. The assessment was published in the journal Knife Oncology.

In this assessment, super-hot beverages with temperatures above 65°C were included in the list of Category 2A carcinogens.

IARC Director Christopher Wild said, “The findings suggest that drinking hot beverages may be a factor in esophageal cancer, due to temperature rather than the type of beverage itself. .”.

The esophageal mucosa is fragile and delicate. The normal tolerance temperature is 40℃~50℃. Once it exceeds 65℃, it is easy to be burned.

Drinking hot water and eating hot food for a long time will cause repeated damage, degeneration, necrosis and proliferation of the esophageal mucosa under constant thermal stimulation, resulting in the increase of abnormal “atypical” cells, which may cause cancer.

The World Health Organization recommends that hot beverages be cooled before drinking.

Friends who like to drink hot water, hot soup, hot pot, and raw porridge should pay special attention.
