Homemade quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine launched in Shenzhen

On September 27th, in the Community Health Service Center of Cuizhu Street of Shenzhen Luohu Hospital Group, Ms. Yu and her 6-month-old baby were vaccinated with the quadrivalent meningococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine Manhaixin . This also means that the domestic quadrivalent meningitis conjugate vaccine is officially launched in Shenzhen.

Mannhaixin is independently developed by CanSino Bio, and is the first and only meningitis conjugate vaccine in my country covering four serogroups A, C, Y and W135. Compared with traditional polysaccharide vaccines, conjugate vaccines are considered to have more advantages in terms of protective efficacy, especially when vaccinated for infants and young children aged 3 months to 3 years (47 months old), which can further enhance the immune response and bring more benefits. Powerful and long-lasting immune protection.

Mencephalomyelitis (“meningitis” for short) is a serious infectious disease caused by the bacterium Neisseria meningitidis. The disease is mainly manifested as protruding fever, headache, vomiting, skin and mucous membrane petechiae, ecchymosis and other symptoms. In severe cases, sepsis and shock may occur. Some patients develop outbreaks that can lead to rapid death. The WHO’s position paper on meningococcal disease mentions that infants and young children between the ages of 3 months and 12 months have the highest incidence. Once an epidemic of meningococcal disease occurs, the incidence may increase in older children and young adults.

Mingococcus mainly has 12 serogroups, and the 6 groups that cause human diseases are mainly A, B, C, X, Y and W. In recent years, a new trend has emerged in the incidence of meningitis in my country. Since 2006, in addition to the common cases of group A and group C, cases of group W135 have been reported in Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangsu, Sichuan and other provinces and regions in my country, and the fatality rate of this bacterial group can reach up to 50%. . In addition, the current Y group has the fastest growing incidence, and there is a hidden danger of outbreak. On the whole, the causes of meningococcal epidemics in my country are diverse, and it is necessary to cover more bacterial flora vaccine protection.
