Contemporary Prose|Ancient Poetry is Good to Enjoy the Cool

Text/Xu Guanghui

“Small heat and big heat, some rice doesn’t want to go home to cook.” In midsummer, the sun is scorching hot for most of the month, and the heat waves are rolling , the cicadas on the trees are screeching, sweating at every turn, and the outside is like a fire, making people feel irritable and uncomfortable in the bedroom.

The ancients said: A calm mind is naturally cool. In ancient times, how did they spend the long and bitter summer without heat-cooling equipment?

“Come to chase the Liuwailiang with the scorpion, and lean on the Hu bed on the south side of the painting bridge. The moon is bright and the boat flute is uneven, and the wind is calm and the pond and lotus are free and fragrant.” A song “Enjoying the Cool” by Qin Guan, a poet in the Northern Song Dynasty The writing is witty and interesting, and it outlines a wonderful and cool picture for us: I went out to find a holy place to enjoy the cool, and came to the south of the painting bridge. At night, the bright and bright moon rises, the children of the boatman play the piccolo, the flute is melodious in the ears, the evening wind blows, the lotus flowers in the pond are in full bloom, and the fragrance is overflowing. This kind of coolness from the outside to the inside makes people intoxicated, and the annoying heat also naturally recedes.

“The green trees are thick and the summer is long, and the reflection of the terrace into the pond. The crystal curtain moves and the breeze blows, and the garden is full of roses.” The Tang Dynasty poet Gao Pian’s “Summer in the Mountain Pavilion” depicts a A vivid and intoxicating summer beauty, full of vitality and vitality: summer days are long and the sun is scorching hot, go to the mountain pavilion, the old trees cover the sky, and there are few people, sitting in the shade of the green to enjoy the cool. The pool water illuminated by the scorching sun is clear and transparent, and the shadow of the terrace reflects the pond, which is like a beautiful scenery in a mirror. The breeze was blowing, and the water was sparkling, as if the crystal curtain swayed gently, bringing bursts of coolness. Not far away, a whole rack of roses is blooming, gorgeous and fragrant, and the courtyard has long been filled with fragrance, refreshing, and the whole body is transparent and cool.

“Lazy swinging the white feather fan, bare in the green forest. Taking off the towel and hanging on the stone wall, the roof is exposed to the pine breeze.” The great poet Li Bai wrote “Summer in the Mountains” to deal with the hot summer. In the green mountains and green forests, find a thatched hut, bare chest and bare top, lazily swing the fan, take off the hood, hang it on the stone wall in the mountain, and let the cool breeze between the pine trees blow over the head. Swimming in the breeze and fishing by the stream beside the house can not only dispel the heat and dissipate heat, but also nourish the mind.

Although summer is unbearably hot and unbearable, it is also the season when flowers and fruits are ripe and fragrant. There is no lack of enjoyment of fruit ripening and the joy of summer in ancient poems.

“Plums are sour and soft teeth, plantains are divided into green and window screens. The sun is long and ruthless, watching children catch willow flowers.” The poet Yang Wanli of the Southern Song Dynasty Wrote “Sleep Up in Early Summer”. The poet lives in the countryside and eats a few plums in the summer afternoon. The sweet and sour taste remains between his lips and teeth, and the green plantains are reflected on the screen windows. I woke up listless from the nap, watching the children chasing the catkins flying in the air, laughing constantly, I suddenly felt a childlike innocence, and I felt a little bit of comfort and coolness in my heart.

“Pull out the golden saber and smashed the cangyu vase. Thousands of red cherries and a ball of citrine. When you swallow the smoke, the sound of ice and snow is heard when you bite into your teeth. Chang’an Qingfu said Shao Ping, fighting It’s like being a minister in the Han Dynasty.” How to relieve the heat? Only watermelon.

Wen Tianxiang’s “Watermelon Song” is very vividly described: pulling out a gold-encrusted saber and cutting the watermelon, as if breaking a green jade vase, the flesh of the watermelon is like thousands of red cherries, dotted with yellow crystals. The teeth clenched a few times, making a rustling sound like chewing snow, and the summer heat disappeared.

Summer is long, a few ancient poems, a few cups of tea, and a slow chanting, which is unique and interesting. Reading the ancient poems about enjoying the coolness, walking into the cool world, feeling the fun of the poet in summer, can not help but feel a little cool.
